worth the risk

Risky Business

Happy New Year! There are so many articles going around about resolutions and change, and I didn’t feel like I had anything different to add. Quite honestly, resolutions are hard for me. Everything that I want in 2020 feels so intangible and hard to quantify, and most of my desires for this year are what my friends and family want for themselves. I recently told one of my best friends that I wanted to be worth the risk. With her, I was referring to my personal life. I thought more about what it meant to be worth the risk because most things in life are risky. Do I position myself in a way in my life that I am actually worth the risk? Does my employer consider me worth the risk of promotion or different opportunities? Do my friends think I am worth the risk of opening up to and sharing their lives with me? Do candidates and customers find me worth the risk to entrust their careers and staffing needs to?

Finding the right company to work for and the right candidates to hire is very risky. There are things that candidates and companies can do to position themselves in the market that make them worth the risk to pursue.

Candidates:

  • Career longevity: Shows your loyalty and commitment to companies.
  • Career growth: Shows you have put in the effort to expand your knowledge and skills to continue to keep growing in companies and your career.
  • Transparency

Companies:

  • Reputation: You cannot please everyone, but are the majority of comments and thoughts about your organization positive?
  • Comp and benefits: Competitive pay, bonuses, insurance, retirement, PTO – all of these things are so important to almost every candidate I speak to.
  • Culture: Do you protect your culture above all else? Is there a bad apple who is the best performer but negatively affecting your culture? Protecting morale instead of production goes a long way for candidates.
  • Flexibility / work-life balance: Put employees and their families first, and more times than not, they’ll make you a major priority in their lives.
  • Transparency
  • Community involvement / philanthropy

Muhammad Ali said, “He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” Living life is a risk. There is no reward without a little risk. In my profession, I understand that your career and your staffing is probably one of the most significant risks in your life. What you do with your career makes a difference in your family; it’s your livelihood. The people you hire to join your team make a difference in how your company performs and your reputation in the organization. I don’t know exactly what everyone goes through, but I can empathize with how hard it is. That’s what I am here for. Reach out to me to help you mitigate some of the risks in your life when it comes to your career and your staffing. Here is what I believe makes me and Aureus Group worth the risk:

  • Listening ear: As your recruiter, I seek to understand what your needs and wants are so that I can find the right job and candidate for you.
  • It’s about you: I truly, from the bottom of my heart, care more about your future than me making a placement.
  • Transparency: I will be honest with you regarding feedback from our conversations, from interviews, resumes, job descriptions, etc.
  • Morality: I seek to do what is right not only by my personal and our company morals (which are very high) but also you.
  • Trustworthy: We cannot control everything that happens, but my team and I can be trusted.
  • Available: We make ourselves available to you. We work as a team, so if I am not in the office, one of my teammates can help.

If you’re in a place where you’re questioning making a career move, please call me. I am here to be a third party to chat through that with you. If you have staffing needs, call me, even if you don’t know exactly what you want, I can help walk through that with you. You can get to know me more by following me on LinkedIn and Facebook.
