In today’s society, staffing and recruiting has become one of the most competitive job fields that one could enter. There are roughly 20,000 staffing companies located all around the globe, and as of April 2019 the U.S. unemployment rate was recorded at a low of 3.6 percent, worldwide. With that being said, it is crucial for a staffing company to have an incomparable work ethic and a unique work culture in order to dominate their competitors.
I sat down with a couple of tenured experts from our team and conducted one-on-one interviews with them. Here is what they had to say about Aureus Group and their experiences throughout their tenured careers.
Name: Linda Aughenbaugh
Job Title: Executive IT Recruiter
Number of years at Aureus Group:10
In your opinion, what separates Aureus Group from their competitors?
Mainly our internal talent – we have a very seasoned team of both recruiters and account managers. For our clients and candidates, that means we quickly know and recognize what is going to be the right fit which saves them time and money by getting clients the right people from the get-go and finding the right opportunity for our candidates. We’re also unique because we do all types of staffing, such as finance and accounting, information technology and systems, healthcare leadership, and executive research and we do contract and direct placement (most of our competitors do either contract or direct placement, not both).
What does your day-to-day work schedule look like?
My typical day is to be logged in and working at 6:30 a.m. After all my years of experience, I manage my time very well and manage my activity; it’s critical to do the right things at the right time. Prime time is very important from 9 a.m. -11:00 a.m. and 1 p.m.-3:00 p.m., which is the time when we’re “heads-down” and on the phone talking to people about opportunities. It’s the time when interruptions are discouraged so we can focus and stay in the zone. I usually work through lunch interviewing candidates during that time – it’s ideal for most employed people. My last interview is usually no later than 2:30 p.m., and then I can spend the rest of the day planning for the next day.

Job Title: Senior Account Manager
Number of years at Aureus Group: 20.5
Tell me about an accomplishment that you are most proud of during your time at Aureus Group?
I feel accomplished any time I am able to get someone a job they would have never known about prior to talking with me or convincing my client to talk to a candidate that they might not have considered before and then they hire them. One of my most favorite accomplishments involved the very FIRST person I ever placed who was an accounting clerk on a contract hire for $8/hr. She is now the PRESIDENT of the company I placed her with! Even though her work ethic ultimately landed her that position, I feel I had a part in her success story by placing her with that company. Lastly, the three President’s Club awards I’ve received are huge accomplishments as well.
What does the company culture at Aureus Group look like?
I think our culture is a work hard, play hard culture. We work our tails off here but also have a lot of fun with each other. I think we are becoming a lot more relaxed in some ways, more flexible. We are also a company that believes in giving back to the community by volunteering and fundraising for important causes. We definitely have a give back mentality.
Aureus Group’s Purpose: To be the “GO TO” for talent
Aureus Group Mission Statement: To be the staffing provider and employer of choice by helping people and companies achieve their goals
Values: Culture, Career Development, Communication, Commitments, Ethics/Integrity, Customer Service
In my short time as a summer intern on this team I have been able to observe and see all of these things first hand. Everyone who is a part of my team truly demonstrates the qualities in our mission statement. The employees on the team do whatever it takes to help their customers. They follow up from a missed call or missed email within 24 hours or less, with no exceptions, and they always put their customers before themselves. Our team provides their clients and candidates with the necessary opportunities to make them successful. That is why our employees have so much success in their professional careers and why our candidates are beyond satisfied after working with Aureus Group.
